Our Mission & Vision
The mission of Rebirth Ministries is to encourage the world in the love of God and to magnify the name of Jesus Christ. Pastor Jeff’s vision is to grow the work of Christ globally through Rebirth Ministries Virtual. We minister to the sick and shut-in, pray with individuals and their families using livestream, social media and phone. We also visit local hospitals and minister to followers in times of need. Our campaign for people in need collected and delivered more than 1,000 boxes of food, hygiene products and clothing for homeless shelters during the pandemic.
During our early years, the mission and vision included working to purchase a facility and in 2011, we did! Pastor Jeff and First Lady Cynthia led efforts for three years in order to purchase the 13,500 square foot facility at 221 Maltby St. in Rochester, NY. We refurbish and upkeep our beautiful facilities constantly to maintain a valuable presence in the community.
Leadership Team:
Our leadership team consists of Trustees, Deacons and Deaconesses, Mothers, Auxiliary Leaders, Assistant Leaders and Adjutants. Leaders recognize the authority of God, and realize that we serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.
Pastor Jeff, Founder & Senior Pastor
As the teaching Pastor and Founder, Pastor Jeff has a passion for carefully unpacking the truths of Scripture. Members and visitors often tell him he’s “hilarious.” Yet with every bit of humor, he unveils key Bible principles and wisdom. He is a preacher’s kid and an exceptional gospel drummer. Jeff worked as a Deacon, Music Minister and Youth Leader in his parents’ ministry. He became a licensed minister in 1996, an ordained Elder in 1998 and, in 2008, he founded Rebirth Ministries, Inc. He still enjoys kicking the set at home and with his son during Sunday Worship. He also plays the organ and keyboards and taught his kids to play. He’s a thinker, very prophetic about the future. He’s also a staunch believer in parents paying attention to what’s happening in the family, and valuing their children’s gifts and talents. He respects the challenges today’s youth face and teaches the Holy Bible in a fun way that appeals to different ages, and generations. He has been honored for his contributions to worldwide missions and for his work in the city. In 2016, the City of Rochester declared September 25th as Pastor Jeffery L. Benjamin Sr. Day, in recognition of his many works.
Asst. Pastor Cynthia, Trustee, First Lady
Cynthia is humorously called the “chairman of the board” by her husband. Her main charge is to help Pastor Jeff in all areas of the ministry and assist in leading, defining and carrying out the mission and vision of the church. She’s an innovative voice and a key organizer and planner of events and church work, often establishing new groups, fundraisers and programs. Her leadership with a youth group and women’s programming helped raise funds to air condition and refurbish both the Worship Center and the Rebirth Prayer Center. Members and visitors share feedback about her friendly, welcoming spirit.
She organized Rebirth’s first Sunday School in 2012 and taught the Adult Sunday School Class for six years. She introduced and furnished the church’s Prayer Center in December 2017 and created a Children’s Church in July 2018. Cynthia works prayerfully with the Pastor to appoint Officers and Workers. She is constantly amazed at the wonders of God, and how suddenly amazing things happen. She worked more than 25 years at the Democrat and Chronicle and is currently a Director for the USA Today Network. She served more than seven years n the U.S. Army Reserves.
